Upcoming Events: Annapolis Film Festival (AFF)

The Annapolis Film Festival (AFF) has firmly established itself as a significant cultural event, drawing cinephiles, filmmakers, and industry professionals to Maryland's historic capital. This year will celebrate its 13th edition from March 27 to 30, 2025.

More than just film screenings; The AFF provides a platform for storytelling that bridges cultures, sparks conversations, and fosters a sense of community.

Since its inception in 2013, the festival's mission is to "encourage and grant the development of all aspects of the creative arts in and around Annapolis through the cinema experience."

Accommodations
If you're traveling to Annapolis for the AFF and looking for accommodations, three categories that stand out in Annapolis are: Historic Inns, Hotels, and Private Home Rentals. My last post includes options in each category.

Festival Highlights

Over the course of four days, AFF showcases more than 70 films, encompassing a wide array of genres and styles. Attendees can expect:

  • Feature-Length Narratives and Documentaries: These films offer deep dives into compelling stories from around the globe.
  • Short Films: Concise yet impactful, these films often serve as a platform for emerging talent.
  • Panel Discussions and Q&A Sessions: Engage directly with filmmakers, actors, and industry experts, gaining insights into the art and business of filmmaking.
  • Special Showcases: Curated thematic programs that delve into specific topics or celebrate particular communities.

Ticketing and Passes

AFF offers a range of ticketing options to accommodate different preferences here:

  • General Festival Pass: Grants access to all regular-priced feature films and shorts programs, industry panels, and the Best of Fest Awards Show.
  • Premium Pass: Includes all benefits of the General Pass, plus entry to the Opening Night Pre-Reception, priority line access, and additional perks.
  • Student Film Pass: Designed for students, this pass offers access to all regular screenings and panels at a discounted rate.
  • Shorts Pass: Ideal for those particularly interested in short films, this pass provides access to all shorts programs and related events.
  • Individual Tickets: Alternatively you can purchase individual film tickets, allowing attendees to customize their festival experience.

Getting Around

If you plan on attending the film festival every day, rent a car. The events can go late and while it is available, public transit is not the most convenient option. You will find yourself spending more time waiting for a ride than enjoying it doing things you love - like joining that invite only party you just heard about.

Parking around Annapolis can be difficult, so plan ahead.

Don't forget!

If something you see at the AFF moves you, or an director, actor or producer says
something that inspires you, don't hesitate to tell them and follow their career.

Who knows? You may get the autograph of the next great actor or director.
Now that, would be incredible.
